· Internet- the hardware, such a s computers, cable’s and wire’s that create a worldwide network.
· World wide web- The software that sends information along the internet’s software.
· File-info such as text, graphics, video, or animation stored on computer hardware.
· Website- Group of related files organized around a common topic.
· Webpage- single file within a website
· Home page- The main page on a website.
Types of websites
· Commercial sites
· Portal Sites-One that will bring you to another website
· Educational sites
· Personal sites
Text- Words, numbers, letters, and other symbols
Graphics- Drawing, Chart, diagram, painting, or photo stored in digital format
Audio- Live, Streamed or recorded sound.
Video-live streamed or recorded moving images.
Animations- The movement of text and graphics.
Hyperlinks- a way to link web pages together to move from one place to another
Interaction design- Part of a website design process where you determine how the user will navigate through the website.
Information design- Determining the content that will appear on each page.
Presentation design- Physical appearance of a websites pages.

· Web author- Person that writes the text that appears on each page
· Web Designer- Develops look and feel of the website.
· Web developer- Person who programs website.

· Hardware-the physical component of the computer
· Software- The set of instructions that tells the comp. what to do.
· Cpu- the part of the computer where the data is processed like the brain.
· Ram- where the computer stores data it is currently processing
· Keyboard- input device for text.
· Mouse- A pointing device used to answer commands.
· Monitors- output and a quick display screen
· Printer- A hardware device that produces hard copy or output that’s permanent.
· Bios- Small program that performs start up activities.
· Operating system- Software that specifies how the computer processes input. The interface between user and computer.

· Application Software- programs that allow users to perform a specific task .
· Multi-tasking- working with more than one application at a time.

· Network- a system to connect computers together.
· Land-Local area network- Network that connects computers in a single location.
· WAN- Connects computers along a large geographic area.
· Server-powerful central computer that manages files and services for a network.
· Client- individual computers on a network
· Nic- where you plug your network cable into the computer and creates and sends a signal.
· Modem-Hardware that sends and receives signals through wires or cables.

· Folder- An item that helps the user organizer files
· Sub- folder-is a folder w/ in a folder.
· Template- a reusable pattern
· Place holder- Tells you what time text goes in a certain location.

· Internet service provider-a business that provides access to the internet.
· Protocol- A set of rules that specifies how data is formatted and transmitted between computers
· Hypertext transcript protocol-Used to transfer files from a web server to a web browser.
· File transfer protocol-Standard method of uploading and downloading files on the internet.
· Intranet-land or wan used to share information with in an organization.
· Extranet-network that can be accessed outside of an organization.

· Domain name- Part of a URL that id’s who’s paying for the site. Ex Weebly
· Extension- Part of the URL that tells users what type of organization uses the address. Ex: Gov, edu
· Accessibility option- Feature that allows for increased access.
· Search engine- is an apt that locates info on the web
· Web directory- Search tool that catalogs websites.
· Keyword- Important word related to the search topic.

· Text editor- Apt used to enter and edit html code.
· Website developing app- application that allows users to create a website
· Wysiwyg- what you see is what you get
· Web hosting service- Service that sells web service space.
· External Hyperlink- Link that takes a user to a different website.

· Share wear- Software that is allowed to be freely distributed.
· Freeware-software that can be freely copied and used for any legal purpose.
· Copyright-a owner’s right to sell his or her work
